Lobster, Toggle, Slide Clasps

Toggle, Lobster or Slide Clasp?

  • Toggle clasps (a shape with a hole in it that you put the other end through) are generally easier to put on and take off.
  • Lobster clasps (you use your finger or finger nail to open the "mouth" and hook it around the small circle at the other end of the bracelet) are less likely to unintentionally come off but hard for older adults with arthritis.
  • Slide Clasps (you slide one side into the other size) look best on 3-string, 4-string or 5-string bracelets. The separate the strings so they lay nicely on your wrist.

What size should I choose?

  • 1 string bracelet
I would choose a lobster or a smaller toggle clasp. The larger the ratio of bracelet diameter to toggle hole diameter the easier it will be to unintentionally fall off.
  • 2 string bracelet
I would choose a lobster or any toggle clasp shown.
  • 3 string bracelet
I would choose a slide clasp, lobster clasp or a larger toggle clasp.
  • 4 string bracelet
I would choose a slide clasp. You can pick lobster or toggle but the bracelet will lay prettier with a slide clasp.
  • 5 string bracelet
I would choose a slide clasp. You can pick lobster or toggle but the bracelet will lay prettier with a slide clasp.

STERLING SILVER: My silver toggles, slides and lobsters are all .925 sterling silver. Since they are sterling they will tarnish over time. Cleaning your jewelry...

GOLD: My gold toggles and lobsters are 14k gold plated. Gold does not tarnish.
